Today more than ever it is legitimate to ask ourselves whether it makes sense to take analog photography at weddings, the one with film so to speak. In an era in which advanced digital photography allows everyone to feel like expert photographers, analogue photography, on the other hand, allows us to explore an artistic universe steeped in timeless romance and creativity. As a wedding photographer, I wanted to experiment with this art form because it offers romantic beauty, limitless creativity and a unique perfection that fits perfectly with my artistic vision.
Shooting with a film camera is a journey into a whole new visual narrative. It’s much more than a simple click of the shutter: it requires total immersion in the present moment, an instant connection with the emotion and the awareness that each shot is definitive, without the possibility of subsequent changes in post-production.
The key is the ability to mentally construct each shot, choose the light, already imagine the result before even pressing the click. Analogue wedding photography is the embodiment of art itself.
With film, I play a lot with light, creating a visual representation from the beginning that captures the essence of the moment through the lens. I try to harmonize the composition of the light, I capture the perfect moment without any possibility of subsequent retouching.
Analog photography stands out for its peculiar aesthetics: the warm nuances, soft tones and authenticity of the film grain add depth and character to the images. This vintage aesthetic brings with it a feeling of intimacy and romance, transforming each shot into a timeless work of art.
The limitation of the frames available on a roll of film stimulates precision and care in the photographer’s art. Each shot becomes a unique opportunity to make the most of, encouraging a more thoughtful perspective focused on the essence of what you want to capture.
Analog photography is also a process that requires patience and craftsmanship. From careful film selection to darkroom development techniques, every step contributes to the creation of images that are the result of authentic craftsmanship.
Beyond digital technology, this practice restores tangible contact with photographs. Wedding albums created with analogue photography become true treasure chests of memories, with photos that can be physically touched, browsed and admired, offering a tactile and sensorial experience that goes beyond the virtual world.
In an era where digital technology dominates the photography industry, the conscious choice to use analogue photography for weddings confers an aura of authenticity and added emotional value. Each image becomes a unique work of art, a tangible testimony of the love, joy and emotion experienced on that special day.
Ultimately, analogue wedding photography is much more than a way of capturing images. It is a complete experience that transforms the way we perceive, remember and appreciate the most important moments of life, transforming them into indelible memories to cherish forever.
